Sweet sweet Annie, 12 years old and as much energy as a puppy. We met out in West Seattle, a beautiful July day (yeah I know, I’m really behind on blogging, but hey it was almost August!). The sun was out, the beach was full, it was that perfect summer day with a little bit of clouds and not too terribly hot. We walked around Alki Point and up and down Alki Beach until the sun set. What a beautiful sunset it turned out to be. After our session when we met to go over the images, I learned that Lucy had been stricken with Cancer. There have been a lot of ups and downs as cancer seems to have. I am really hoping that Annie and her family are able to pull through and get good results back. Please keep them in your thoughts. On a side note: This being Canine Cancer Awareness Month, it is important for everyone to take a few minutes and check out your dog. Here is a great list of 10 early warning signs from the National Canine Cancer Foundation. Important research and progress is being made every day. The following is directly from the National Canine Cancer Foundations website:
“Canine Cancer affects one out of every three dogs. Of those, over half of them will die of cancer. The National Canine Cancer Foundation is asking for your help to fund important research grants that are working towards improving those statistics. Through a major project funded by the National Institute of Health, the mapping of the genome sequence of the dog has been complete. Knowing the mapping of every gene in the dog, gives researchers an advantage not yet achieved in humans.”
