  • Professional Photographer Magazine Cover!

We are very honored to have won the Professional Photographer Magazine Cover Contest!

I always thought this would make a great cover. It was an outtake from a Holiday Cover we shot for CityDog Magazine. Although it didn't quite look right for CityDog, I think it looks pretty amazing on the front of Professional Photographer. I could not be more thrilled with this honor!

Tribute to two special kitties | Lynnwood Pet Photography

A couple of weeks ago I got a call from a super lovely woman who wanted to get her cats photographed. I don’t photograph a ton of cats. Not that I wouldn’t like to, but most of my clients are dogs. I was excited to come out but shortly learned that one of her cats had cancer and wasn’t doing well. Thankfully the other cat, Mali, was in remission. It was bittersweet to go, I wanted to get the best images I could as I knew they may be some of the last, but it was hard knowing that it might be the only time I got to meet these sweet kitties.

Well I did go, and they are truly wonderful cats. They were sweet and soft and just lovely, all things your pets are suppose to be and more. You could just see the love their mama had for them. She described Simon as “grouchy often, but the biggest cuddler and protector of our family. His big green eyes melt my heart. If he wasn’t on my lap, he was *very* near always keeping an eye on things.”

The day after I left, Simon was no longer with us.

It was still very sad news even though I knew it was coming.

I was glad she still had Mali. Mali was more shy around me, but having her mom describe her, I only wish I could know her in this way. “Mali, my little girl. My sweet little Mali who truly never did any wrong. She always entered the room like “I’m here. We can start now!”…but in such an innocent way…with her little crooked tail wrapped around her like a princess.”

How sweet is that?!

After prepping all the images I was ready to get together with Simon’s mom and Mali. We were just waiting on a time where we could both coordinate our schedules. Tonight I found out that unexpectedly Mali has gone to join Simon and also is no longer with us. This completely has thrown me and I feel so sad they are both gone. It is somewhat comforting knowing they are both together again.

I wanted to post a few from the time we spent together. Just for their mama to have until we get the chance to meet. I know they meant the world to her and I am grateful I was able to be a small part of their lives. Rest in peace Simon and Mali.

You will be missed.

Paddywack | Mill Creek Pet Photography

I love having my work up around town in various venues. It’s fun to have it on display and a great way for a variety of people to see it and hopefully become a new fan (for lack of a better word). So, I am happy to announce my work is currently up on the walls at Paddywack in Mill Creek!

Paddywack is located in the Mill Creek Town Center and is home to many healthy and natural pet foods, treats and supplements. They have a great variety of pet supplies, collars, leashes and those awesome antlers we got a couple of weeks back that were featured in Friday Night Dog Love.

Cover of CityDog photographed by Bailey & BanjoIf you are in the area, or even if you are not, head on over to Paddywack and check out the new display, it will be up there until June 17th. Here is a quick shot (below) I took after hanging the work last week, you might even recognize one of the images that made the front cover of the Spring 2011 issue of CityDog Magazine. Yes I am proud, it is super cool! Pick yourself up an issue while you are there, they sell that too!

The Mutt March will be held at McCollum Park which is right near Paddywack! So, come on out and help support the fight for canine cancer, have a nice walk with your dog, meet me!, and then head on over to Paddywack and get yourself some great dog stuff and see my photography up on their walls while you still can! I think it will make for a wonderful day if I do say so myself !:)

Canine Casa | West Seattle Dog Photography

So excited to tell you all that as of a couple of weeks ago, I have work on display at Canine Casa, a fantastic grooming shop in West Seattle. If you haven’t been there, you should head on over not only to see that great new art work, but to have your dog groomed. You can even just go try them out, they do $5 nail trims! That’s $1.25 per paw! How can you beat that?! They specialize in high anxiety dogs and have over 30 years of combined experience grooming a variety of dogs. We are going to be doing some fun promos this year together, so stay tuned for that and the full write up on this great business in the next few weeks!

Here’s some quick snap shots of what the work looks like on the wall and some of the fun furry visitors that were there getting their trims while I was hanging work. Bailey and Banjo both are going down there soon to get all that undercoat brushed out and maybe get their nails trimmed! I know they are going to be in great hands!

Friday Night Dog Love | Bailey & Banjo | Week 12

I love my big dogs, they are fun lap dogs even though it sometimes takes my breath away…literally. That and their sharp elbows always seem to find the perfect place to inflict maximum pain. It’s not that I don’t like small dogs, I totally do, but I know I am a big dog person. That was until I saw tonight’s Friday Night Dog Love.

This guy, Judson Beaumont of Straight Line Designs is so crazy creative, I love his work. Being a woodworker myself, I find his furniture work stunning! But this dog bed, pet camper is over the top fun! It is made from Fiberglass and Aluminum Stainless Steel and measures about 3 1/2 feet wide, almost 2 feet tall and 19″ deep. Not quite the room I would need for either Bailey or Banjo, but a smaller dog would be perfect!

I would love to commission him for a Bailey and Banjo size version, but this little one I read is $2500, so thinking it might be way out of my league or I could just get a full size Air Stream and be able to stay with them! Either way, check out Straight Line Designs and all of their amazing work, it really is fun to look at!

Meet Nitro | Seattle Humane Society | Bailey & Banjo – Bellevue Pet Photography

I had the great pleasure of meeting Nitro this week at the Seattle Humane Society. Nitro was a joy to hang out with. He had great skills with his sitting (of course for treats) and he would hang out and wait for me to take his picture. He is wonderful on a leash and loves to have his ears scratched. Even though these pictures don’t really show it, he is the most adorable white tip on his tail that matches his paws. So super cute and loving, I hope you get a chance to meet him. Please forward this post on to anyone you think might be interested!
