  • Professional Photographer Magazine Cover!

We are very honored to have won the Professional Photographer Magazine Cover Contest!

I always thought this would make a great cover. It was an outtake from a Holiday Cover we shot for CityDog Magazine. Although it didn't quite look right for CityDog, I think it looks pretty amazing on the front of Professional Photographer. I could not be more thrilled with this honor!

Friday Night Dog Love | Bailey & Banjo | Week 7

This week we’re keeping it here in the Northwest! We are featuring a great local company named Rockin’ Doggie Bakery based in Kirkland, WA. Even though they are local, they have an online store so you don’t even have to travel to the eastside.

Rockin’ Doggie buys fresh and local ingredients, hand makes and bakes all of their treats in their kitchen and ships them directly to you in reusable and/or recyclable containers! I think that is super cool! There are no preservatives or junk additives and come in a variety of yummy flavors and options such as vegan, wheat-free and grain/gluten free to name a few.

Does your dog have allergies, this is the place to shop for dog treats! They even have a new Monthly Treat Subscription service! Just order up the size and flavors and every month a new batch of treats will be sent to you automatically!

Have a doggie birthday coming up and can’t find the perfect gift? Rockin Doggie also has Gift Baskets. All packaged up with cute reusable items, dogs and their owners will appreciate how thoughtful you are bringing these beautiful and yummy gifts.

So who loved what? Well, our little miss particular, Bailey, loved the PowerPup Nutritional Bars for all the extra nutrition. Her favorites were the peanut butter bars, she ate them right up! Our big boy Banjo loved the Mini Mutt Muffins, these little muffins are super cute and he devoured a whole batch in no time! But honestly, they loved everything that came from this fantastically yummy bakery!

I have met the owner, Kristan, a couple of times and she is fantastic to work with and really cares about what she is producing. Go like Rockin’ Doggie on Facebook too and keep up on all their deals, events and news! I heard they just acquired patent pending status on a new line of Puppy Pizza’s! Congratulations to them! Now go check them out!

Friday Night Dog Love | Bailey & Banjo | Week 6

Bailey and Banjo here! Well actually it’s mostly me…Bailey.

Banjo is technically here…panting…LOUDLY!

cover of citydog magazineJulie is taking way too long to make a decision on what to give the final approval for Friday Night Dog Love, so we are taking over this week to tell you one of our favorite loves, CityDog Magazine!

Banjo and I wait patiently for every new issue to come out so we can see what all our buddies are up to, the cool products we can put on Julie’s shopping list, and the fun, dog friendly places we can talk Julie into taking us. If you have a dog and you’re not subscribed to CityDog, you are really missing out on the best dog magazine around. On a side note, we heard the cover of the spring issue is going to be amazing!

Screen shot of CityDog 2.0Well, last month we heard CityDog relaunched their website. CityDog 2.0 is here! We made Julie sign up and now we can hop online when she’s not looking and catch up on all the latest events and see our buddies in the Social Club. If you’re out there and a buddy of ours, please sign up so we can catch up outside of the dog park. This site is awesome!

What’s even more cool is there is an amazing directory, listing all the dog related businesses in the area. Julie listed her business in the pet photographer section and even upgraded her listing! So now, if you have ever had the great opportunity to have your dogs photographed by her, you can write a review (hint hint, this is what keeps us in dog bones people!).

The first place I sniff out, is the off-leash dog parks, so I can bark and slobber all over the back of Julie’s truck when we get near one! I am certain this tactic will work soon, and she will immediately stop and let us out. Paws crossed! As for Banjo, the first thing he hits…the Food & Treats section. Talk about food motivated…what a dope! Don’t tell him, but I signed him up for a bath.

So definitely check out the new CityDog 2.0, get yourself a subscription, and be sure to friend us! Banjo and I like all dogs, especially the little ones! I promise I won’t let Banjo lick you…too much!

Meet Scrappy | Seattle Humane Society | Bailey & Banjo – Bellevue Pet Photography

Scrappy…how can you not love this face!? With those big brown eyes looking up at you. An adorable Shih Tzu mix, he loves having his ears scratched and it was hard not to give him lots of love with his gentle disposition. We hung out in the park like setting around the Seattle Humane Society and just enjoyed the nice weather. He had his awesome jacket on so he didn’t get cold. He just soaked it all in. Great on a leash and easy to be around, Scrappy is one fantastic dog that would make a fun and loving addition to any wonderful family.

With any of these posts about adoptions, please spread the word to people who are thinking about adopting a dog.

Meet Nettie | Seattle Humane Society | Bailey & Banjo – Bellevue Pet Photography

The first sweet dog I got to meet this week is “Nettie”. She’s a super sweet Beagle mix who loved being out in the woods. We walked all over and her tail would not stop wagging! She sniffed and sniffed through the trails and would stop and look back at me as if she was saying “this is so cool!”. We had a great time and she’ll make a wonderful addition to a loving family. Please feel free to forward this link to anyone you know that might like to adopt Nettie! Or drop by the Seattle Humane Society and meet her in person…I know she’d love it!

Pitbulls & skateboards | West Seattle Pet Photography

I grew up in Southern California. Surfing, skateboarding, the beach, the sun, was all a part of how I was brought up. Even when we moved far away from the beach, the beach was always a part of me. There’s something so peaceful and at home about hanging out there, that I have always found it difficult to live anywhere that didn’t have a major body of water. The flip side of this is that I cannot stand being HOT! Yeah I know…I have issues. If it’s mid-80’s or warmer, more often than not I prefer to be near water or in the shade. That may have been one of the big factors in my decision to move to the great northwest! A decision I have never regretted.

Last week I was out on an editorial shoot with CityDog Magazine getting a few shots in West Seattle. It was a typical nice winter/spring day with some heavy clouds, but poking through were some great moments of sun. The kind of sun you can wear a sweatshirt and shorts in and be plenty comfortable (which is a good thing since this primarily what I like to wear).

One of our models was Nelson, a rescued pitbull and his owner Brad. Brad and Nelson love to skate the shores of Alki Beach so when I got home and started editing, this shot jumped off the screen. After playing around a bit, I just fell in love with it.

It reminds me of home.

Yes it is cloudy, and yeah the beaches aren’t in Southern California.

But to me…

they are better.

The Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound and the sandy beaches around here have the perfect balance of my past and the present. It’s something I can’t totally describe, but this picture tells it all. This picture will be one I display for years to come.

Thanks Brad and Nelson for being such great models and for taking me back home.
