  • Professional Photographer Magazine Cover!

We are very honored to have won the Professional Photographer Magazine Cover Contest!

I always thought this would make a great cover. It was an outtake from a Holiday Cover we shot for CityDog Magazine. Although it didn't quite look right for CityDog, I think it looks pretty amazing on the front of Professional Photographer. I could not be more thrilled with this honor!

The Self Portrait Project | Seattle Dog Photography

Ok, so I have been wanting to get some pictures of myself up on this site so people can see it’s not actually Bailey and Banjo taking the pictures, but there really is a human factor. I kept putting it off, one because it’s not the best weather here in the winter, and two, I know what Bailey and Banjo can be like when I sit down and try to get pictures with them! So instead of planning it and taking them on a walk to get them a little worn out, which I tell all my clients to do, I thought wow…it’s nice out. This would be the perfect window to get out and take some quick pictures with the dogs. Bad idea.

A few things I can count on…Bailey to do her own thing because she thinks she knows better than everyone else, Banjo to constantly lick me until I am covered in slobber, and hair…HAIR everywhere!

Here’s a few outtakes from the “short” session. They don’t all go as planned and just further reinforces planning ahead of time! I should listen to my own advice. I am going to try again the next time we get sunny weather, which may be spring. Enjoy.:)

Friday Night Dog Love | Bailey & Banjo | Week 1

Bailey looking at the cameraSo this week Bailey & Banjo decided they wanted to start up something to share on a weekly basis. They love looking at new toys and beds and treats. I mean really…no different than your typical two year old. Bailey loves Etsy….Banjo loves catalogs. I think he just likes to chew on them and tear them up, so after shopping for a while with these two, Bailey thought it would be a good idea to share what they found with you here on their blog.

Beautiful pink shag dog

For the very first week of what I hope to be a fun long term weekly installment, we go to Bailey, who of course found this on Etsy, one of her favorites. A super cute, super sweet looking pink chenille dog with an awesome orange bow! And what a steal at that price. Bailey LOVES to have a pillow or something to rest her head on at night, and this will be so much better than trying to lay on MY pillow! Look through the store, there are other great colors, animals and even blankets. We really have been enjoying looking at all the beautiful work here!

Just in case the item gets purchased (wink wink), I’ll post the picture here (with her permission of course).

Bruce the Frenchie | Seattle Dog Photographer

This past month I had an assignment to shoot a product for CityDog Magazine. It is going in the Cool Products section in the upcoming issue. I can’t tell you the product just yet, but I can tell you I needed a French Bulldog for the assignment. I didn’t personally know of anyone that had one, so I called up my awesome friend Bensen, who runs Close to Home Pet Services to see if she could get me in touch with one. Not only did I get one, I got Bruce! The super Frenchie!

We had such a great time at our shoot, he was so much fun to work with and the cutest attitude, I totally loved it. I SO wish I could show you the cutest little product he got to model, but you’ll have to wait until the next issue comes out.:)I would love to show you Bruce though, here are a few head shots from our day together. Thanks Bruce…and thanks Bensen!

Newport Animal Hospital | Newcastle Dog Photography

What a great night it was Tuesday. I finally got all my images together and approved to hang them all up at Newport Animal Hospital in Newcastle! The veterinarians here are fantastic and we have always enjoyed our experiences there. They are caring, patient and professional. They give Bailey and Banjo the best care imaginable. I am really honored to be able to have my work displayed here. So if you’re ever in the area or looking for a new vet, this is the place to go! Here are a few snapshots of how it looks…go check it out!

Pet Photography is what I do…

Well if you hadn’t noticed, there’s been a few changes around here lately. I guess the main one being the company name, focus and logo. I have always enjoyed taking pictures of animals, but didn’t realize until recently that I REALLY enjoy it more than any other type of shooting. I enjoy kids, families, newborns etc…but I LOVE…with a big ol’ capital red glowing heart LOVE shooting dogs. Why was I spending all this time shooting other things that were fun, but not in the same way as when I get to shoot a lovable dog and her owner?

So…after a lot of thought and some coaxing by my own dogs, Bailey and Banjo, I decided I needed to follow my heart and make a go of it. I credit those two furry nuts with the name, I mean after all they inspired it, and did help push me in the right direction. They will appear here more often than me I am sure, to fill you in on what’s been going on around here and share some of the things that they love about life. The other thing I don’t LOVE doing…is writing. So Bailey has agreed to take on a lot of those tasks and keeping the blog updated. Banjo said he was available to speak up now and again as well. If I were you though, I wouldn’t take too much of what he says seriously.

Anyway, along with the changes, will come new products, new winter studio sessions (for those times we can’t get out due to rain and other sloppy weather), and lots of new content by our buddies Bailey & Banjo. I am looking forward to what lies ahead this year and look forward to the journey with you guys.

I will leave you with a picture of Bailey & Banjo when Banjo was just a pup. Bailey loves sticks…Banjo loves ears. To this day, when Banjo gets excited he will chew on Bailey’s ears. I am sure she is so thrilled about it too judging by the look on her face.

Here’s to a happy new year and adventure!:)
